Responsible for using simple accounting techniques to evaluate the books and records of businesses in order to understand and assess the appropriate tax liability for VAT eligible organizations. As such, backgrounds in accounting, economics, finance or other quantitative fields are a plus. Audit processes can become fairly detailed but also require candidates to deal with ambiguity well, so the best candidates will be meticulous problem solvers.
The auditors’ evaluations can span from simple desk reviews that require minimal interaction with businesses to in-person assistive or investigative visits that require back-and-forth with the company’s internal finance & accounting teams, so strong presence / confident communication skills are a key component of good candidates.

Roles and responsibilities
Performs field audits of tax accounts of complex enterprises by:
• Reviewing audit cases assigned to them
• Obtaining taxpayer’s accounts details from the tax system
• Obtaining all relevant documents, returns, payments, correpondences from the tax system
• Reviewing account details and analyzing compliance to the tax legislation
• Meeting with taxpayer to obtain additional information
• Visiting taxpayers’ premises to assess taxpayers’ compliance to tax legislation
• Based on finding, instructing Notices of Reassessment
• Recording audit cases steps and findings in tax system
• Producing audit report for Audit Supervisor
• Coaching junior audit officers in the field of audit practice

Provides information to taxpayers to promote good public relations and improve understanding of tax laws, regulations and procedures by:
• Explaining tax regulations and methods of computation
• Providing assistance and instructions on the use of forms
• Assisting in the interpretation of tax laws.
